Lindsey Coker, M. Ed Director of Special Needs Services, specializes in helping parents work effectively with schools to plan programs that help children with special needs learn and succeed. Mrs. Coker along with Northwest Georgia Healthcare Partnership, will help parents understand their rights and responsibilities regarding special education laws under IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and 504 Plans under the American Disabilities Act. Northwest Georgia Healthcare Partnership seeks to foster collaborative relationships between parents, schools, healthcare providers, and community members which enhance students’ success.

Mrs. Coker received her Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Alabama in 2008 and her Master’s degree in School counseling from the University of West Alabama in 2010. She has been a special education teacher in local school systems for eight years, serving students with disabilities including low to high functioning autism, physical disabilities, emotional behavior disorders, processing disorders, and attention deficit disorders. Mrs. Coker’s understanding of special education procedures and best practices – combined with her professional and personal experience – creates a unique approach to advocacy for children with special needs with proven results. We plan to work side by side with doctors and therapists to provide continuity of care.
